RATIONALE
A significant percentage of readers reach adulthood without the ability
to comprehend text effectively. Comprehension of written text
doesn't necessarily happen just because a person can decode words.
Many readers read so narrowly that they’re unable to transfer
their reading skills to other genre.
Certainly reading extensively and widely improves comprehension.
However, many students do not read widely because they are lacking
comprehension skills. There is an increased possibility that these students
would read more often and on a wider scale if they learned specific skills
of comprehension.
Yet, research tells us that the skills of comprehension are not widely taught.
We believe that the main reason for this is that they are difficult to teach
without effective resources.
PURPOSE
The KEY comprehension series:
KEY into reorganisation, KEY into inference & KEY into evaluation -
is designed to give teachers extensive targeted resources to assist them
and their students to understand and practise the important skills of comprehension.

THE KEYS TO SUCCESS
Triune commits to many thousands of hours to develop precision reading resources
to make teaching easier and more successful.
Used well, you will be pleased with the results, as the following comments suggest:
Probe Reading Assessment & the KEY comprehension resources form an intergral part of our reading program. Love them. Not only do they teach our students how to read,
they help our teachers learn how to teach comprehension explicitly.
Marcia S. — Learning & Teaching Co-ordinator, Melbourne
I have been using these resources for two years now, both in the general classroom
and for students with specific comprehension problems. I continue to be amazed
by the progress made by all students, of all abilities and all types of learning styles.
Jackie B. — High School Teacher, NZ
The way they are designed (in increasing levels of difficulty) means children can work at their level. Excellent for teaching independent activity. Complements Probe.
Tracey & Sherryl — Year 5 Teachers, NZ
I like the way the resources are structured. The developmental process
allows students (even those with language difficulties) to feel secure
and confident and achieve tremendous progress.
