unique reading diary

to extend & broaden independent reading

DETAILS

RATIONALE

There are many students, both young & old, who are regarded as functional readers,
yet spend little time engaging with text.
While this is a concern, there are many students who read regularly, but far too narrowly. As a direct consequence of this, they are likely to struggle with broader comprehension both at school and throughout their daily lives.

PURPOSE

By its design the EXTEND Reading Tracker positively encourages students
to increase their reading time by degrees and - of equal importance -
broaden the range of material they read.

A person who can read,
but won't read,

has little advantage over
a person who can’t read.
